Job summary

Husch Blackwell LLP in the United States seeks a Patent Agent with 3–6+ years of experience to prepare and prosecute patent applications. You will draft applications, respond to Office actions, and conduct comprehensive prior-art searches within a dynamic IP team.

Qualifications include a engineering degree, USPTO registration, and strong analytical, writing, and communication skills. AI/quantum computing experience is a plus; salary ranges with bonus opportunities are offered.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field required.
• Three or more years, preferably 6+, drafting and prosecuting patent applications in a law firm.
• Strong analytical and research skills with attention to detail.
• Excellent written and verbal communication with clients and colleagues.
• Ability to work both collaboratively and independently with strong organization.
• Registered as a Patent Agent before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
• AI or Quantum Computing experience a plus.

Responsibilities

• Prosecuting patent applications, including responding to Office actions and communicating with patent examiners.
• Drafting high-quality patent applications with detailed descriptions and figures.
• Conducting and analyzing patent searches to identify prior art and assess patentability.
• Staying up to date on developments in U.S. patent law and relevant technologies.
• Meet a billable hour requirement of 1500 - 1700 hours per year.
