Job summary

Everforth Apex is seeking a Patch and Test Technician at MacDill AFB, FL. The role supports high-availability communications, provisioning and restoring services, and field support across secure networks in a 24/7 environment.

Required 3+ years in military/enterprise telecoms, DoD 8140/8570 certification, and Secret clearance eligibility. Onsite position with potential travel to forward locations; lifting up to 50 lbs, and valid US passport required.

Qualifications

• DoD 8140/8570 certification required; bachelor’s degree not required.
• 3+ years in high-tempo military or enterprise telecommunications environments.
• Secret clearance (eligible to obtain/maintain DoD Secret).
• Experience with long-haul data/voice technologies and encryption devices.

Responsibilities

• Prioritize and manage daily work assignments to meet operational requirements.
• Troubleshoot, install, operate, and maintain facility systems for continuous service.
• Operate and maintain fixed and deployable IT systems, including long-haul networks.
• Install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain telecommunications equipment.
• Handle service requests, reports, and outages; track in ServiceNow/FaCIT.

# Patch and Test TechnicianApply**Job#: 3052810****Job Description:** *Candidates must be U.S. citizens able to obtain and/or maintain a Department of Defense security clearance as a condition and continuation of employment.*Patch and Test Technician**Location:** MacDill AFB, Florida (Onsite)Role OverviewThis position supports high-availability communications for a diverse user base across multiple secure networks. Responsibilities include provisioning, modifying, and restoring services in accordance with established policies. The role also involves providing installation, testing, systems integration, and technical support in a 24/7 operational environment. This is a temporary role with an expected duration of six months.Key Responsibilities* Prioritize and manage daily work assignments to meet operational requirements.* Troubleshoot, install, operate, and maintain facility systems to ensure continuous service availability.* Operate and maintain fixed and deployable IT systems, including long-haul communications and tactical network infrastructure.* Install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain telecommunications systems and equipment.* Complete service requests, generate reports, and support service restoration efforts, including equipment changes and configuration updates.* Coordinate with internal IT organizations to support projects, maintenance, troubleshooting, and service implementations.* Provide field support at forward locations within the Area of Responsibility (AOR), as required.* Open, track, and close service tickets using ServiceNow and FaCIT, and maintain a Master Station Log.* Coordinate scheduled and unscheduled outages with external agencies.* Configure, operate, and maintain cryptographic equipment and troubleshoot secure circuits.* Support rotating shifts and non-standard work schedules as mission requirements dictate.Required Qualifications**Education:** Applicable DoD 8140 or DoD 8570 Certification (such as CompTIA Security+ CE). A bachelor’s degree is not required.**Experience:** 3+ years of related experience in high-tempo military or enterprise telecommunications environments.**Clearance:** Secret (must be eligible to obtain or maintain a DoD Secret clearance)**Technical Skills:*** Proficiency with long-haul data and voice transmission technologies (fiber, copper, satellite).* Experience troubleshooting SONET/MSPP, CTP, and ODXC systems.* Analytical and troubleshooting skills for mission-critical communications.* Experience with encryption devices and secure voice/data transmission policies.* A valid U.S. passport is required.* Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.* U.S. Citizenship is required.Preferred Qualifications* Hands-on experience with KG-175D/G/F/N/X TACLANE and KG-250X/XS encryption devices.* Knowledge of higher-level transport infrastructure, including SONET/MSPP and ODXC.* Prior experience in military Tech Control or Patch and Test Facilities (TCF/PTF).Work EnvironmentThis position works with other Patch and Test Technicians and Leads within a team setting during business hours.Company OverviewWe are a global technology and professional services company that delivers technology solutions and mission services to government agencies.
