Job summary

The Pastry Cook at Salish Lodge & Spa supports daily pastry and baking operations by preparing desserts, baked goods, and banquet items in accordance with established recipes, quality standards, and presentation guidelines. This role contributes to banquet and event execution, supports production timelines, and maintains organization and sanitation within the pastry kitchen.

  • Knowledge of basic cake decorating.
  • Pastry experience or culinary school degree.
  • Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines.
  • Experience reading and executing Banquet Event Orders (BEOs).
  • State Food Handler’s License(s).

  • Prepare pastries, desserts, and baked goods according to recipes and production schedules.
  • Assist with basic cake decorating and finishing techniques.

The Pastry Cook supports daily pastry and baking operations by preparing desserts, baked goods, and banquet items in accordance with established recipes, quality standards, and presentation guidelines. This role contributes to banquet and event execution, supports production timelines, and maintains organization and sanitation within the pastry kitchen. Through strong technical skills, organization, and teamwork, the Pastry Cook helps deliver consistent and memorable culinary experiences.

What Success Looks Like
  • Prepare pastries, desserts, and baked goods according to recipes and production schedules.
  • Assist with basic cake decorating and finishing techniques.
  • Support banquet and event production by reading and executing Banquet Event Orders (BEOs).
  • Ensure consistency in quality, flavor, and presentation of pastry items.
  • Maintain organization, cleanliness, and proper setup of pastry workstations.
  • Assist with daily preparation, plating, and replenishment of pastry items.
  • Follow all sanitation, food safety, and safe food handling standards.
  • Manage multiple tasks simultaneously while meeting production deadlines.
  • Communicate effectively with culinary and service team members to support service needs.
  • Assist with opening and closing kitchen procedures as assigned.
  • Other tasks as assigned.
What You Bring
  • Must have some knowledge of basic cake decorating
  • Prior pastry culinary experience and/or culinary school degree or combination of education and experience
  • Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines
  • Ability to multitask, have strong leadership qualities and strong technical pastry skills
  • Ability to read Banquet Event Reports and run banquet events
  • Strong organization skills
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English
  • Necessary State Food Handler’s License(s)
