Lone Mountain Ranch in Big Sky, Montana is seeking a Pastry Cook to craft pastries, breads, desserts, and sweet finishes for our restaurants and events. Work alongside a pastry and culinary team in a high-volume, scratch kitchen dedicated to quality and creativity.

This role is ideal for someone passionate about pastry who enjoys seasonal ingredients and professional growth within a renowned resort setting.

Qualifications

  • Previous pastry, baking, or professional kitchen experience in a full-service restaurant, resort, hotel, or similar culinary environment.
  • Strong understanding of baking fundamentals, pastry techniques, and food safety practices.
  • Ability to follow recipes accurately while maintaining consistency and efficiency.
  • Availability to work mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays throughout the season.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare fresh pastries, breads, desserts, and baked goods for daily breakfast, lunch, dinner, and special events.
  • Execute recipes consistently while maintaining exceptional quality, presentation, and portion standards.
  • Assist with production planning and daily prep to ensure each service is fully prepared.
  • Support banquet and special event pastry production throughout the season.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and efficient pastry workstations throughout each shift.
  • Follow all food safety, sanitation, and HACCP standards.

Craft Memorable Desserts in One of Montana's Premier Culinary Destinations

As a Pastry Cook, you'll help create the pastries, breads, desserts, and sweet finishes that become memorable parts of our guests' experience. Working alongside our pastry and culinary team, you'll prepare everything from fresh breakfast pastries to elegant plated desserts for our restaurants and special events.

What You'll Do
  • Prepare fresh pastries, breads, desserts, and baked goods for daily breakfast, lunch, dinner, and special events.
  • Execute recipes consistently while maintaining exceptional quality, presentation, and portion standards.
  • Assist with production planning and daily prep to ensure each service is fully prepared.
  • Support banquet and special event pastry production throughout the season.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and efficient pastry workstations throughout each shift.
  • Follow all food safety, sanitation, and HACCP standards.
  • Properly store, rotate, and label ingredients to minimize waste and maintain freshness.
  • Communicate effectively with the pastry and culinary teams to support smooth daily operations.
  • Help maintain kitchen equipment and promptly report maintenance concerns.
  • Continue developing pastry techniques while contributing to a collaborative kitchen culture.

You’ll Be Successful in This Role If You Have:
  • Previous pastry, baking, or professional kitchen experience in a full-service restaurant, bakery, resort, hotel, or similar culinary environment.
  • A strong understanding of baking fundamentals, pastry techniques, and food safety practices.
  • Food Handler Certification (or the ability to obtain one before beginning work).
  • The ability to follow recipes accurately while maintaining consistency and efficiency.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • The ability to stand for extended periods and work efficiently in a high-volume kitchen.
  • Availability to work mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays throughout the season.
You’ll Stand Out If You Also Have:
  • Formal pastry or culinary education.
  • Experience working in fine dining, luxury hospitality, or resort environments.
  • A passion for seasonal ingredients, artisan baking, and creative dessert presentation.
Physical Requirements
  • Frequently stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Regularly bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and lift throughout the shift.
  • Safely lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Work comfortably in a fast-paced commercial kitchen with varying temperatures.
