Job summary

SSM Health St. Mary's Hospital - Jefferson City in Jefferson City, MO seeks a PRN Pastoral/Spiritual Associate to support chaplaincy services. You will visit patients, coordinate sacramental ministry, and refer to chaplains as needed, while remaining responsive to codes and crisis calls.

This role offers daily pay and on-call shifts, including nights and weekends with shift differentials, aligning with a flexible PRN schedule at SSM Health.

Qualifications

• One year of pastoral experience.
• High School diploma/GED or 10 years of work experience.

Responsibilities

• Visits patients, families and staff. Prepares daily census sheets for the department.
• Prepares for chapel services.
• Coordinates all sacramental/liturgical ministry within the hospital and documents what is necessary.
• Refers patients, families, and staff to chaplains, priests and ministers, as needed.
• Sends sympathy cards to families of deceased patients.
• Participates in and plans for memorial services.
• Responds to all codes.
• Covers on call shifts as assigned.
• Works in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements

• Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0-25 lbs.
• Frequent sitting, standing, walking, reaching and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements.
• Frequent use of vision and depth perception for distances near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more) and to identify and distinguish colors.
• Frequent use of hearing and speech to share information through oral communication. Ability to hear alarms, malfunctioning machinery, etc.
• Frequent keyboard use/data entry.
• Occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, twisting and gripping.
• Occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 25-50 lbs.
• Rare climbing.
