PASTOR POSITION

University Baptist Church 315 North Sherman Avenue Macomb, Illinois 61455

University Baptist Church is a financially secure, small congregation, averaging about 15 people per week, with a goal to grow, as the Lord provides. The Pastor position is part-time, with an expected weekly schedule of 25 hours. Bi-vocational applicants are welcome. The salary range is $36,000-$41,000, depending on experience, and includes an available parsonage and utilities. The applicant we seek will minister as follows:

LEADING:

• Plan and conduct the worship service: including preparing and delivering the sermons and leading the observance of ordinances.
• Lead the church in an effective program of witnessing and in a caring ministry for persons in the church and community.
• Leading in planning, organizing, directing, coordinating, and evaluating the total program of the church.
• Attend council and committee meetings, and work with the deacons, church officers, and the councils as they perform their responsibilities.
• Cooperate with associational, state, and denominational leaders in matters of mutual interest and concern, and keep the church informed of denominational development.

PASTORAL CARE:

• Extend care to individuals or families through one-on-one contact
• Visits individuals who are in hospitals, nursing homes, or homebound
• Stay in contact with those who are recovering at home
• Contact prospective members
• Contact those who have become inactive in church
• Contact people experiencing crisis or spiritual needs
• Guide people in times of anxiety, confusion, and doubt
• Be available for individual or family counseling
• Be there for people during times of celebration and times of grief
• Visit or contact individuals who are having diagnostic tests or procedures and support the family
• Involve couples in pre-marriage counseling
• Perform marriage ceremonies
• Visit families that have lost a loved one
• Officiate funeral services
• Maintain scheduled office hours (flexible as approved by the deacons) at the church
• Other responsibilities as needed
