Job summary

Jamestown Baptist Church in Jamestown, Missouri, seeks an ordained bi-vocational pastor to lead our congregation in gospel proclamation, discipleship, and community service. The pastor will provide biblical teaching, pastoral care, and spiritual leadership, while working with our deacons and lay leaders to fulfill SBC commitments.

The role supports church worship, care, and local evangelism in a small-town setting.

Qualifications

• Be an ordained minister.
• Be committed to the beliefs and mission of the Southern Baptist tradition.
• Support the Southern Baptist Convention, Missouri Baptist Convention, and Baptist Faith & Message 2000.
• Demonstrate a strong commitment to biblical preaching, pastoral care, evangelism, and discipleship.
• Possess the character and qualifications expected of a pastor as described in Scripture.
• Be willing to serve in a bi-vocational pastoral role and work cooperatively with the church’s deacons, officers, committees, and congregation.

Responsibilities

• Preach at all regularly scheduled Sunday morning worship services and participate in special services of the church.
• Provide biblical, gospel-centered preaching and teaching that encourages spiritual growth and discipleship.
• When the Pastor is unable to fulfill these responsibilities, the Deacon Chairman will arrange for a qualified supply pastor.
• Lead the church in an effective ministry of evangelism and outreach to individuals in the church and surrounding community.
• Provide pastoral care and visitation to members and others as appropriate.
• Perform hospital visitation, weddings, funerals, and pastoral counseling as requested and as appropriate.
• Participate in the Jamestown Ministerial Alliance and maintain a positive Christian witness within the community.
• Provide spiritual leadership in the planning and coordination of the church’s programs, ministries, and ordinances.
• Work cooperatively with the deacons, church officers, committees, and other church leaders as they carry out their assigned responsibilities.
• Encourage and equip members of the congregation to use their gifts in service to Christ and the church.
• Serve as moderator of church business meetings.
• Participate in the preparation of the church bulletin and other church communications.
• Administer and maintain the church’s Facebook page and social media presence.
• Keep the church informed of relevant developments within the SBC, MBC, and associated Baptist organizations.
• Serve as a positive spiritual role model for the congregation, demonstrating Christian character and biblical principles.
• Maintain a biblical perspective on the importance of marriage and family and demonstrate appropriate priorities in family life.
• Special services may include, but are not limited to: Revival services, Easter services, Labor Day community services, Thanksgiving services.

Bi-Vocational Pastor

Jamestown Baptist Church — Jamestown, Missouri

Jamestown Baptist Church is seeking an ordained, bi-vocational pastor to lead our church in fulfilling its mission of proclaiming the gospel of Jesus Christ, making disciples, and serving our congregation and community.

The ideal candidate will be committed to the Southern Baptist Convention (SBC), the Missouri Baptist Convention (MBC), and the Baptist Faith & Message 2000 (BFM 2000).

Primary Function

The Pastor is responsible to the Church for proclaiming the gospel of Jesus Christ, teaching the biblical revelation, providing pastoral care, and providing spiritual and administrative leadership in the various areas of church life.

Responsibilities

Worship and Preaching

• Preach at all regularly scheduled Sunday morning worship services and participate in special services of the church.
