Job summary

First Congregational Church of Leon, WI is seeking a bi-vocational pastor to lead our small rural congregation and to serve with warmth and vision. The pastor will preach biblically, provide pastoral care, and partner with the board to guide ministry, outreach, and growth while living in a supportive community.

The ideal candidate relates to an aging membership while drawing younger families and singles, and is comfortable visiting members and praying with and for others.

Job description

First Congregational Church of Leon, Wi is seeking our next pastor. We are a church in a rural farming community. Our current congregation is predominantly aging (middle aged to elderly). We are seeking a leader who can relate to us as we are while also working with the body to draw younger families and singles into our congregation.

Our average weekly attendance (both members and regular attenders) is fewer than 30. We also have several who watch services live on Facebook. The newly built sanctuary can seat approx. 120 people, which is connected to our multipurpose fellowship hall. Our current music style is mainly hymns/piano with some contemporary music.

We believe in the triune God, salvation only through the blood of Christ, baptism, confirmation of youth, and infant dedication. We support several missionaries through prayer, donation, and love offerings for specific needs. We also support members of the community as they face unexpected challenges. We use several translations of the Bible including King James, NIV, NASB, ESV, etc.

We own and rent out a 3 modern bedroom home which is available to the right candidate, if needed.

We have been blessed financially. We are debt free!

Preferred: 3-to-5-year commitment to the calling

Reason for opening: After Interim Pastor of over 12 years faced many health issues, we have refocused our commitment to seek a pastoral candidate to fill the role officially.
