Job summary

Silver Cloud Missionary Baptist Church is seeking an Associate Pastor / Pastor-Elect to join the Senior Pastor in providing spiritual leadership, preaching, teaching, pastoral care, and ministry support to the congregation. This role is designed as a pastoral succession path, with growth into the Senior Pastor position following leadership development, mentoring, and a structured transition period.

Qualifications

• Licensed and/or ordained Baptist minister preferred
• Strong biblical preaching and teaching ability
• Demonstrated spiritual maturity, integrity, and leadership
• Ability to effectively serve within the culture and traditions of the Black Baptist Church
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Pastoral ministry experience preferred
• Seminary or theological training is a plus, but not required

Responsibilities

• Assist the Senior Pastor in carrying out the vision and mission of the church
• Preach and teach during worship services, Bible studies, and special services as assigned
• Provide pastoral care, counseling, prayer, visitation, and member support
• Assist with weddings, funerals, baptisms, communion, and other church functions
• Support outreach, discipleship, evangelism, and church growth initiatives
• Work collaboratively with church leadership, deacons, ministry leaders, and staff
• Help maintain unity, order, and spiritual growth within the congregation
• Participate in leadership development and succession planning toward future Senior Pastor responsibilities
