Job summary

University Retirement Community in Davis, California seeks drivers to provide safe, reliable transportation and a resident-focused experience that enhances daily life and independence.

You will operate community vehicles, assist residents in and out of vehicles, and perform basic vehicle checks while delivering outstanding service to residents and guests. The role calls for a valid license, good communication, and a calm, professional demeanor.

Qualifications

• Minimum of one year of experience driving passenger vehicles, buses, or providing transportation services preferred.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to meet PRS driver guidelines; CDL (Class A, B, or C) and DOT medical certificate preferred.
• Strong communication skills and customer service focus.
• Ability to remain calm under pressure and provide safe, dependable transportation.
• Comfortable interacting with residents, guests, and team members in a professional manner.

Responsibilities

• Provide driving services for residents and guests for medical appointments, errands, outings, and special events, and complete event and program set-ups on time.
• Operate community vehicles, including small passenger buses and those with wheelchair lifts, in a safe and professional manner.
• Assist residents in and out of vehicles, including loading and unloading walkers and wheelchairs with care and courtesy.
• Perform pre-trip inspections and minor preventive vehicle maintenance while maintaining cleanliness and safety standards.
• Monitor vehicle conditions, report issues promptly, and ensure emergency supplies are maintained.
• Follow emergency procedures and respond calmly in urgent situations while providing excellent customer service at all times.

We are seeking Drivers to provide safe, reliable transportation and deliver an inviting, resident-focused experience that enhances daily life and independence.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Provide driving services for residents and guests for medical appointments, errands, outings, and special events, Complete event and program set-ups on time.
• Operate community vehicles, including small passenger buses and those equipped with wheelchair lifts, in a safe and professional manner.
• Assist residents in and out of vehicles, including loading and unloading walkers and wheelchairs with care and courtesy.
• Perform pre-trip inspections and minor preventive vehicle maintenance while maintaining cleanliness and safety standards.

Pay Breakdown

Compensation & License Requirements

• $20.00 – $22.00 /hour: For candidates with a valid, standard California Class C (Regular) Driver's License.
• $25.00 – $28.00 /hour: For candidates with a valid California Class A or Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) WITH a Passenger (P) Endorsement.

Note: To qualify for the higher pay tier, your Passenger Endorsement must be active and valid at the time of hire.
