Job Summary

The PAS QA Educator position reports directly to PAS QA and Onboarding Director. Key responsibilities of the role include: Providing in-person PAS registration operations training onsite at assigned facility. Collaborating with department leaders on completing designated aspects of the onboarding and operations training content. This position has the potential to impact several hundred PAS team members each year in following the PAS Reg Essentials Onboarding program, supporting new location implementations, and the ongoing operations training for existing team members. Responsible for interpreting PAS Policies and Procedures as well as providing guidance at designated facility(s). Perform audit rounding at assigned facility(s). Responsible for analyzing data for Key Performance Indicators by monitoring and reporting on trends negatively impacting metrics. Providing information and support to ensure compliance of Patient Access Services Policies and Procedures and regulatory requirements. Monitoring PAS staff performance to identify benchmarks and goals. Investigate, provide root analysis when necessary, and create and implement general course correction as appropriate. Works with PAS QA and Onboarding Director to develop and implement strategies to facilitate continuous operational improvement across the health system. Responsible for audits/analysis and outcome assessments for accuracy of patient data, both system-related and process-related for PAS assigned facility and for operational areas impacting patient registration, billing, and/or collections. Reviews appropriate reports and systems to monitor patient account errors and track trends for timely resolution. Actively participates in EPIC Go-Lives and updates to include assisting with conversions and software systems updates; this may require travel outside of the market area of the designated facility(s). Contacts the Help Desk as needed and provides feedback to users with questions/issues, to provide support for assigned PAS area. This is facility-based with expectation to travel to the corporate or other locations for workshops and other meetings as deemed necessary by PAS Leadership.

Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions
  • Provides Training for PAS and Non-PAS Registration staff.
  • Leads PAS on site in-person based training on operational needs.
  • Administers ongoing PAS operations training content to facilitate a high level of staff proficiency related to registration processes.
  • Maintains knowledge of standard, administrative and department policies, procedures, and protocols.
  • Maintains knowledge of commercial and government insurance plans, government, hospital, and billing requirements to ensure proper compliance of the PAS department.
  • Stays abreast of policy and procedural updates to ensure training content is consistent with current expectations.
  • Completes Monthly Self Studies in advance of assignments to ensure familiarity with content and ability to answer leadership and team questions.
  • Perform audit rounding at assigned facility(s) for all staff as needed.
  • Assists PAS management team with determining annual performance review goals and provides relative training content to support the successful achievement of goals.
  • Supports staff development and education initiatives by composing training materials with collaboration of the PAS and Revenue Cycle leaders and Organizational Learning.
  • Support of course development including but not limited to new hire training classes, monthly self-studies, annual staff competencies and other programs as needed.
  • Develops informational material to reduce or eliminate registration errors based on current patterns and trends.
  • With approval of content from PAS QA and Onboarding Director, collaborates with Org Learning on the development of Annual CBL program content and monthly assignment schedule.
  • Attend staff meetings to conduct any ongoing training on new, updated or current workflows.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Mentors new-hire team members through the onboarding or remediation period.
  • Provides mentoring review materials to new-hire team members to address areas of the students deficiency.
  • With approval of content from PA QA and Onboarding Director, implements training programs to address deficiencies while maintaining consistency across the health system for the patient experience.
  • Routinely reviews training surveys to seek areas for improvement.
  • Assist and support implementation of process improvements across the health system for PAS.
  • Assists with Epic Go-Live and Software updates.
  • Attending and contributing to conversion sessions.
  • The PAS QA and Onboarding Team is also an extension of the Connect team during Go-Live updates.
  • Provide onsite assistance and instruction for Patient Access during Epic Go-Live and Software updates for assigned hospital facility.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Complies with all Wellstar Health System policies, standards of work, and code of conduct.
Required Minimum Education
  • High School Diploma (General or GED, General or Associates, Other-Preferred).
Required Minimum License(s) and Certification(s)
  • All certifications are required upon hire unless otherwise stated.
  • CHAA – Cert Healthcare Access Assoc or CPAR – Certified Patient Account Rep or CRCR – Certified Revenue Cycle Rep or CRCR‑P – Certified Revenue Cycle Rep – Provisional (90 Days) within 120 Days Additional License(s) and Certification(s).
Required Minimum Experience
  • Minimum 2 years experience in healthcare Revenue Cycle Required and Bachelors degree or higher may substitute for experience.
Required Minimum Skills
  • Computer/data entry experience.
  • Ability to communicate with various members of the healthcare team.
  • Effective communication skills (both written and verbal), attention to detail, self-directed and a positive attitude are essential.
  • Effective problem solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Working knowledge of patient registration systems and intermediate Microsoft Office Suite are preferred.
