Actalent is seeking a skilled Survey Crew Chief for our NYC/Long Island area office. The role requires 5+ years of surveying experience on commercial NYC projects, with leadership responsibilities over field crews and extensive use of Trimble and advanced surveying equipment.

The ideal candidate will manage field operations, perform stakeouts, topographic and boundary surveys, and mentor junior crew members while maintaining safety and accuracy.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of surveying experience on commercial NYC projects
• Proficiency with surveying software, particularly Trimble
• Possession of a valid driver's license
• OSHA 40 and SST certifications
• Strong communication skills and proficiency in GPS, Civil 3D, and ALTA surveys

Responsibilities

• Supervise and lead survey crews, managing field operations and performing all phases of land surveying.
• Utilize advanced survey equipment including Trimble, robotic total stations, GPS RTK units, 3D laser scanners, and data collectors.
• Conduct detailed field calculations, complete sketches, and ensure data is downloaded and processed with accuracy.
• Safely handle all surveying equipment and vehicles, ensuring that setups adhere to safety protocols and equipment is properly maintained.
• Supervise and mentor instrument operators and other field crew members, ensuring productivity and adherence to project timelines.

This role requires a professional with over 5 years of experience in surveying, specifically on commercial projects in NYC. The successful candidate will demonstrate expertise in leading and supervising survey crews while utilizing advanced surveying equipment.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and lead survey crews, managing field operations and performing all phases of land surveying such as construction stakeouts, topographical surveys, boundary analysis, and as-built surveys.
• Utilize advanced survey equipment including Trimble, robotic total stations, GPS RTK units, 3D laser scanners, and data collectors to gather accurate field data.
• Conduct detailed field calculations, complete sketches, and ensure data is downloaded and processed with accuracy.
• Safely handle all surveying equipment and vehicles, ensuring that setups adhere to safety protocols and equipment is properly maintained.
• Supervise and mentor instrument operators and other field crew members, ensuring productivity and adherence to project timelines.

Essential Skills

• A minimum of 5 years of experience in surveying, specifically on commercial projects.
• Proficiency with surveying software, particularly Trimble.
• Possession of a valid driver's license.
• OSHA 40 and SST certifications.
• Strong communication skills and proficiency in survey techniques, GPS, Civil 3D, and ALTA surveys.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• High School Diploma with strong math and computer skills.
• Desire to expand skillsets and adapt to new technologies.
• Proficiency in field coding for field to finish auto linework.
• Ability to complete additional certifications, such as OSHA (10, 30, 40), Hazwoper, TWIC, etc.

Work Environment

The Crew Chief will work in the field with the survey crew, often on busy streets or construction sites, with exposure to weather conditions and vehicular traffic.

Job Type & Location

This is a Permanent position based out of New York, NY.

Pay And Benefits

The pay range for this position is $72000.00 - $100000.00/yr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
