Job summary

Arete Studios is seeking a Part-time Sales Associate for on-site work in the New York City metropolitan area. You will greet customers, guide discovery of emerging fashion brands, and support sales from first interaction through purchase.

You will help maintain visual merchandising, manage inventory, and assist with store events or activations, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed. You will work with POS systems and cash handling, delivering a high-touch, welcoming shopping

Role Description

The Part-time Sales Associate is an on-site role based in the New York City Metropolitan Area. This role focuses on delivering a welcoming, high-touch in-store experience, guiding shoppers through discovery of emerging fashion brands, and supporting sales from first interaction through purchase. Daily responsibilities include greeting customers, understanding their style preferences, recommending products, managing fitting room experiences, and handling point-of-sale transactions accurately. The Sales Associate will also help maintain visual merchandising standards, ensure inventory is organized and replenished, and support store events or activations that highlight featured designers. This is a part-time role that may include evenings, weekends, and holidays depending on business needs.

Qualifications

• Strong customer service and relationship-building skills, with the ability to create an engaging and inclusive shopping experience.
• Retail sales or fashion sales experience, including comfort with POS systems, cash handling, and basic sales reporting.
• Interest in emerging fashion brands and trends, with the ability to communicate brand stories and product details clearly.
• Effective verbal communication and active listening skills, including the ability to tailor recommendations to individual customer needs.
• Organizational and time-management skills to manage multiple customer interactions while maintaining store standards.
• Comfort working in a data-informed environment, including following sales and merchandising guidance based on analytics insights.
• Ability to stand for extended periods, move merchandise, and support store setup or events as needed.
• Availability to work a flexible part-time schedule, including weekends and peak retail periods.
• Previous experience in fashion retail or luxury/modern boutique environments is preferred but not required.
