Job summary

Benchmade Knife Company, Inc. is seeking a Material Handling Technician I for a weekend, 3×12 hour shift schedule (Fri–Sun, 5:30 AM–6:00 PM). You will manage receiving, shipping, parts warehouse and driver tasks, handling inventory, cycles counts and safety procedures in a busy manufacturing environment.

You will operate forklifts and pallet jacks, verify loads, and support KPIs while maintaining a clean, compliant workspace and providing excellent internal customer service.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED and 3–4 years of shipping/receiving or warehouse experience.
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with PPE and noise exposure.
  • Familiarity with MRP systems and inventory transactions.
  • Strong computer and data-entry skills with MS Word/Excel/Outlook/Teams.
  • Excellent attendance, punctuality and time management.
  • Forklift certification preferred.

Job Summary & Schedule

Material Handling Technician I role encompasses four indirect labor positions: Receiving, Shipping, Parts Warehouse, and Driver. The position follows a weekend schedule consisting of three 12‑hour shifts (Fri‑Sun, 5:30AM – 6:00PM).



  • Receiving: Verify counts of incoming and outgoing materials, receive purchase orders, distribute products to required departments, and move parts to appropriate work centers.

  • Shipping: Pull, pack, and prepare finished goods for final shipping to customers; refill product bins with incoming inventory; receive product into the warehouse.

  • Parts Warehouse: Issue manufacturing orders for production, including issuing kits to final assembly and maintaining accuracy of component parts; maintain inventory of knife components.

  • Driver: Transport finished goods and raw materials between warehouse locations; drive box truck safely and responsibly; load and unload materials individually or as a team; verify and transact loads for accuracy.


Essential Job Functions & Duties


  • Manage inventory electronically using Syspro MRP system and other computer applications; identify, label, and place materials in stock; record location of inventory.

  • Perform cycle counts of inventory.

  • Provide excellent service to internal stakeholders and vendors.

  • Operate lift trucks, pallet jacks, and other equipment safely to move parts and inventory to proper locations.

  • Maintain material‑handling equipment by completing pre‑use inspections and applying lock‑out tag‑out as appropriate.

  • Observe safety guidelines, procedures, and policies; identify and report safety concerns.

  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment.

  • Support ongoing reporting of key performance metrics.

  • Display job‑specific competency as defined by the training proficiency matrix.

  • Contribute ideas to improve or optimize warehousing procedures.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Qualifications


  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent, and 3‑4 years of shipping, receiving, or warehouse experience in a manufacturing environment.

  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, coolants, abrasives, heat, cold, adhesives, automated and manual machinery while wearing PPE (safety glasses, safety shoes, Kevlar gloves).

  • Familiarity with MRP systems and performing inventory transactions.

  • Basic understanding of inventory controls and cycle counting.

  • Strong computer and data‑entry skills (MS Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams).

  • Good verbal and written communication skills with co‑workers, internal customers, and vendors.

  • Excellent attendance, punctuality, and time sensitivity.

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and multitask accurately.

  • Quality‑conscious individual with excellent attention to detail.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities with tight deadlines and work well in a collaborative, positive team environment.

  • Forklift certification preferred.


Additional Driver Qualifications


  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.

  • Ability to follow all federal and/or state laws, regulations, and agency rules, standards, and guidelines.

  • Minimum 25 years old at time of application due to insurance requirements.


Working Conditions


  • Production floor environment; repetitive lifting up to 50lb; standing, bending, and walking for long periods.

  • Less than 5% travel required (additional 80% travel for driver in vehicle to company locations).

  • Ongoing shift change or overtime may be required.

  • Driver may sit and stand for long periods and drive on highway and local roads.
