Job summary

North Central International in Rapid City, SD is hiring a parts counter specialist to greet customers, locate parts, and process sales with accuracy.

You will use catalogs and computer systems to identify part numbers and prices, advise substitutions, and collaborate with mechanics and service teams to keep operations smooth. Prior parts sales or strong customer service skills are valued.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; Associate’s Degree or higher preferred.
• Previous parts sales experience preferred but not required.
• Ability to quickly learn and operate the dealership’s business and inventory systems.
• Strong customer service skills and effective communication abilities.
• Basic math skills for pricing and processing sales transactions.
• Ability to read and interpret parts catalogs and computer displays.
• Reliable and able to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Legal authorization to work in the country.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers and mechanics, assess their parts needs, and provide prompt, courteous service.
• Identify, locate, and pull parts from inventory to fulfill customer and mechanic orders accurately.
• Use catalogs, computer systems, or references to determine correct part numbers and pricing.
• Advise customers on substitutions or modifications when exact replacements are unavailable.
• Receive and process orders, prepare sales invoices, and handle payments or credits.
• Maintain accurate records of parts sales, inventory levels, and customer interactions.
• Conduct regular inventory counts and assist in stock management.
• Examine returned parts for defects and process exchanges or refunds.
• Assist in merchandising parts displays and maintain cleanliness of the counter and sales area.
• Demonstrate product features or usage to customers as needed to support sales.
• Collaborate with mechanics and service dept. to facilitate repair operations.
• Adhere to safety protocols and dealership policies.
• Support other duties to ensure smooth parts department operations.

• Collaborate with mechanics, service department, and other dealership personnel to facilitate efficient repair operations.
• Adhere to all safety protocols and dealership policies while performing job duties.
