Palmer Trucks in Fort Wayne, IN seeks an experienced Parts Sales Representative-Outside to maximize sales in the assigned territory. You will call on existing customers and establish new ones, promoting parts and accessories to wholesale and retail customers.

The role requires frequent travel, strong communication, and the ability to manage credit approvals. Reports to the Parts Manager; full-time position with a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• 5 years of sales experience in truck/commercial equipment fields.
• Valid driver’s license with clean driving record; CDL preferred but not required.
• Must be able to travel frequently and adapt to varied shifts.

Responsibilities

• Call on existing customers and establish new ones within territory.
• Promote parts and accessories to wholesale and retail customers.
• Handle payment methods and credit approvals for wholesale parts.
• Solicit new business daily and conduct market surveys.
• Train on product features, advantages and benefits.
• Keep Parts Manager informed of field marketing/merchandising conditions.

PARTS SALES REPRESENTATIVE- OUTSIDE

Reports To: Parts Manager

Summary

The primary function of the Parts Sales Representative-Outside position is to maximize sales within assigned territory. To call upon existing and establish new customers. The position will increase market penetration by selling and developing market strategies to customers in the designated area and achieve unit goals and gross profit.

Key Responsibilities

• Responsibilities for the position based on a daily, weekly or annual basis.
• Be a liaison between the dealership and the customers, call on garages, jobbers, fleet owners and leasing companies.
• Promote the sales of parts and accessories and be an advisor to wholesale and retail customers.
• Establish a method of payment on wholesale parts and obtain approval of credit.
• Spend time each day in solicitation of new business.
• Arrange for and /or conduct shopping surveys of mass merchandising outlets selling fast moving, competitive parts.
• Train and learn features advantages and benefits of products.
• Keep Parts Manager abreast of marketing and merchandising conditions in the field.
• Other Duties as Assigned.

• Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
• Position requires a high school diploma.
• 5 years sales experience in the truck, commercial equipment sales field.
• Position requires the ability to operate motor vehicles have a valid drivers license and maintain a safe driving record. Current Commercial Driver's License is preferred but not required to begin the position
• Working hours: The individual may be required to work varied shifts, including evenings, weekends, or extended hours based on the sales transactions and operational needs. Flexibility and Adaptability: The ability to adapt to changing schedules, travel plans, and client demands is vital. This role may require frequent travel, sometimes on short notice, necessitating flexibility in working hours and travel arrangements.

Physical Requirements

• Mobility: The individual should be capable of moving around the repair shop, including walking, standing, and potentially bending or kneeling to inspect vehicles or equipment.
• Vision: Good visual acuity is necessary for driving and navigating different locations. This includes the ability to read maps, GPS systems, and paperwork related to sales transactions.
• Hearing: The individual should have good hearing to communicate effectively with customers, and vendors, and to be aware of any audible warnings or signals in the repair shop.
• Manual dexterity: A certain level of manual dexterity is required for the individual to handle paperwork, use computer systems.
• Lifting and Handling: While not as physically demanding as a mechanic's role, a salesperson in this field might occasionally need to handle sales materials, samples, or lightweight equipment. The ability to lift and carry up to 20-30 pounds intermittently may be required.
• Driving: Proficiency in driving and the ability to spend time behind the wheel for long hours, often on highways or unfamiliar roads, is essential. A valid driver's license and a clean driving record are usually prerequisites for this role.
• Communication Skills: While not a physical requirement, effective verbal and written communication skills are crucial. A salesperson in this role must interact with customers, explain technical details about heavy-duty trucks, and negotiate sales contracts effectively.
