Job summary

Caterpillar Inc. in Morton, IL is seeking a Parts Inventory Analyst to support inventory management systems, analyze data with SAS, and drive improvements with IT partners. This role focuses on global kitting, DFIP/DRP, and deployment processes.

You will develop automated reporting, lead testing for system changes, and provide advanced user support. On-site five days a week with up to 10% travel; relocation is not offered.

Our Product Support and Logistics Division (PSLD) is one of the most innovative divisions within Caterpillar. In PSLD, as within all of Caterpillar, our priority is our customers and helping them build a better world. We touch nearly every element of the services value stream. PSLD is responsible for Aftermarket Parts Distribution of Cat Parts, Integrated Logistics and Global Services supporting Caterpillar dealers and customers. Our teams work together in critical areas that leverage digital capabilities, technology and operational excellence.

As a Parts Inventory Analyst, you will be responsible for supporting Inventory Management systems and processes through data analysis, reporting, and business process support. You will manage key inventory planning processes, provide analytical and system support for planning tools, and partner with business and IT teams to identify improvements, resolve operational challenges, and support system enhancements. You will also leverage SAS to analyze data, develop reporting solutions, and provide insights that support inventory and planning decisions.

Additional Information:

• This role is located in Morton, IL and does not offer relocation.
• This role is 1st shift, Monday – Friday.
• This role is 100% on-site with no opportunity for hybrid or remote schedules.
• This role requires up to 10% domestic travel.

What You Will Do:

• Manage and support global kitting and fixed demand planning processes.
• Provide business architecture support for DFIP, DRP, and Deployment systems.
• Perform ad hoc analysis and develop data-driven recommendations to support business decisions.
• Utilize SAS extensively to analyze inventory, service, replenishment, and operational performance data.
• Develop automated solutions and reporting tools to improve process efficiency and data quality.
• Lead testing, validation, and business readiness activities for system enhancements and process changes.
• Investigate process exceptions and develop business workarounds to support operational continuity.
• Partner with Demand Planning, Deployment, DRP, IT, and Distribution teams to implement business improvements.
• Support ERP and system conversion initiatives, including testing, onboarding, and user acceptance activities.
• Maintain process documentation, controls, and governance for supported business processes.
• Provide advanced user support, training, and troubleshooting for planning and inventory management systems.
• Communicate analytical findings and recommendations to both technical and non-technical audiences.

What You Have (Basic Requirements):

• Accuracy and Attention to Detail: Understanding the necessity and value of accuracy; ability to complete tasks with high levels of precision.
• Analytical Thinking: Knowledge of techniques and tools that promote effective analysis; ability to determine the root cause of organizational problems and create alternative solutions that resolve these problems.
• Data Gathering & Analysis: Knowledge of data gathering and analysis tools, techniques, and processes; ability to collect and synthesize data from a variety of stakeholders and sources in an objective manner to reach a conclusion, goal, or judgment.
• Effective Communications: Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.
• Inventory Management - MFG: Knowledge of processes and methods of inventory management; ability to effectively manage local or distributed inventories of raw materials, work-in-progress and finished goods.
• Problem Solving: Knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems; ability to apply knowledge of problem solving appropriately to diverse situations.
• Standard Operating Procedures: Knowledge of established standard operating procedures (SOP); ability to design, implement and evaluate standard operating procedures affecting daily and strategic business operations in order to increase operational efficiency.

What Will Set You Apart (Top Candidates Will Have):

• Previous experience in an Inventory Management role, ideally within a similar industry
• Experience with business-user programming and data analysis tools, such as SAS or Python
• Hands-on experience with SAP, SPP, deployment, or other inventory planning systems
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret data and identify actionable insights
• Experience within Supply Chain, Transportation, Operations, or Logistics
• Knowledge of inventory record accuracy and inventory management processes
• Experience working with supplier management processes or collaborating with supplier-related teams

Summary Pay Range:

$89,210.00 - $133,810.00
