Responsibilities

  • Make a part number inquiry into the inventory for the requested part.
  • Invoice the customer with correct price, tax, and charges.
  • Collect funds or ensure cashier receives payment before issuing the part.
  • If not in inventory, locate from approved outside source or escalate to parts manager.
  • Adhere to parts department procedures for tracking lost sales.
  • Complete special-order part requests as needed.
  • Notify customers when special order parts arrive.
  • Operate and learn parts invoicing/inventory system updates.

Parts Counter Sales General Employment Application

Position Summary

The primary responsibility of this position is to assist customers that want to buy parts and processing the final sales transaction.

Core Responsibilities

Responsibilities described in this section are fundamental to success in this position.

  • Find the part number, if necessary, for a parts request using electronic catalogs, books, or microfiche
  • Make a part number inquiry into the parts inventory for the requested part
  • Invoice the customer for the part charging the correct price, tax, and miscellaneous charges
  • Collect the funds for the invoice or make sure the cashier receives payment prior to issuing the part
  • If the part is not in inventory, locate the part from an approved outside source or give the request to the parts manager to locate
  • Follow the parts department procedures for tracking lost sales
  • Complete a special-order part request for any parts that need to be ordered
  • Assist the back counterperson or stocking clerk as necessary
  • Learn any new computer updates that affect the parts invoicing/inventory system
  • Notify customers when special order parts arrive
  • Usespersonal device to provide an additional layer of security for companynetwork and site access through multi-factor authentication.
  • Adhere to all dealership safety standards
  • Other responsibilities as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

The requirements listed below are the minimum degrees, certifications, knowledge, skill, and/or ability required of this position.

  • High School Education or equivalent
  • 3-5 years parts department experience
  • Valid driver's license without restrictions that affects your ability to operate company owned vehicle(s) and ability to maintain a clean driving record.
  • Previous inventory management or related management experience preferred
