Check is building a new generation of embedded payroll APIs and partner support. The Partner Support Lead role combines senior operational work with people leadership to serve enterprise partners, resolve payroll and tax issues, and drive improvements across Check’s platform.
You’ll lead a team, balance day‑to‑day support with strategic initiatives, and collaborate across Engineering, Tax, and Product to maintain an exceptional partner experience.
Payroll is broken. It's still running on decades-old infrastructure. We're rebuilding it.
We don't run payroll ourselves — we power the businesses that do. As the inventors of embedded payroll, we're redefining how people get paid and making it easier for those businesses to launch, grow, and thrive.
On our team, you'll use creative problem-solving, critical thinking, and grit to simplify the complexity of payroll for thousands of employers of every size, across all industries. We ignore conventional role boundaries in favor of the unique strengths and values each builder brings to our mission: make paying people simple. The Support team plays a critical role in keeping payroll running for thousands of businesses and millions of workers by supporting the platforms that build payroll products on top of Check's infrastructure. When questions arise or something doesn't behave as expected, we investigate what happened, explain it clearly, and drive toward a solution.
As a Partner Support Lead, you'll serve as both a senior Support operator and a people leader. You'll lead and develop members of the Support team while remaining close to the work—regularly working directly with partners to resolve support issues, answering partner inquiries, investigating complex payroll and technical problems, and serving as a senior escalation point when issues require deeper investigation or judgment.
You’ll work closely with the Head of Support and Manager of Support, as well as Engineering, Product, Tax, Risk, and other teams across Check, to maintain a high bar for partner experience, develop the team's capabilities, and help the team operate effectively. This role requires someone who can balance day-to-day team leadership with hands-on partner support, strong judgment on complex issues, and the ability to drive resolution across teams.
