We are seeking a Partner Banking Analyst to help develop and execute the risk and oversight framework for fintech and other third-party banking relationships. This role combines hands-on partner due diligence with the development of scalable processes for evaluating, monitoring, and reporting partner risk.
The Analyst will assess prospective and existing partners across financial, compliance, operational, and regulatory dimensions while helping strengthen the tools, methodologies, and reporting used to manage the program. This is a hands-on opportunity for someone who enjoys building processes in a growing environment and working across Compliance, BSA/AML, Legal, Risk, Operations, and relationship management teams.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conduct initial and ongoing due diligence on fintech and third-party banking partners, evaluating both financial condition and compliance risk.
- Develop and maintain due diligence questionnaires, risk-rating methodologies, evaluation criteria, assessment templates, and supporting documentation.
- Review partner governance, policies, controls, staffing, testing programs, complaint management practices, and regulatory history.
- Analyze financial statements, liquidity, funding sources, capital position, operating performance, and overall business viability.
- Identify material financial, compliance, or operational concerns and prepare clear recommendations for senior-level review.
Partner Monitoring & Oversight
- Develop and maintain ongoing monitoring processes for partner relationships, including key risk indicators, thresholds, exceptions, periodic reviews, and escalation procedures.
- Produce recurring partner risk reporting for management and governance committees.
- Track identified issues and remediation activities through resolution.
- Document the movement of funds and data across partner relationships and use that analysis to identify potential control weaknesses.
- Improve and automate monitoring, reporting, and oversight processes as the partner portfolio grows.
Regulatory & Compliance Support
- Review partner products, marketing materials, and customer disclosures for compliance with applicable consumer protection requirements, including UDAAP/UDAP, Regulation E, Regulation DD, Regulation P, TILA, ECOA, and FCRA.
- Partner with BSA/AML and Compliance teams on CIP/KYC, transaction monitoring, SAR, and sanctions considerations associated with partner programs.
- Monitor regulatory developments and enforcement activity affecting bank-fintech and third-party relationships and translate changes into practical recommendations.
- Support regulatory examinations and internal audits by preparing documentation, drafting responses, and tracking findings and remediation.
- Apply applicable third-party risk management guidance and regulatory expectations when evaluating and monitoring partner relationships.
Program Development & Technology
- Identify opportunities to strengthen and standardize partner banking processes, controls, documentation, and reporting.
- Use AI-enabled research and compliance tools to improve regulatory research, document analysis, due diligence, and monitoring activities.
- Evaluate data flows and system interactions across partner integrations to identify risks that may not be apparent through document review alone.
- Partner with internal stakeholders to improve workflows, reporting capabilities, and risk management infrastructure.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 4–6 years of experience in bank examination, banking compliance, risk management, fintech risk, or a related field, with exposure to consumer compliance, BSA/AML, third-party risk, or fintech partnership oversight.
- Experience evaluating organizations or programs across both financial and compliance dimensions, including financial condition, liquidity, funding, governance, controls, testing, and regulatory history.
- Working knowledge of federal consumer financial protection requirements, including TILA, ECOA, FCRA, UDAAP/UDAP, Regulation E, Regulation DD, and Regulation P.
- Working knowledge of BSA/AML requirements and their application to third-party or partner banking arrangements.
- Familiarity with regulatory expectations and interagency guidance governing third-party relationships and bank-fintech arrangements.
- Demonstrated experience developing, standardizing, improving, or automating risk, compliance, or operational processes.
- Strong written communication skills with experience preparing assessments, memoranda, recommendations, or other materials for senior management, governance committees, auditors, or regulators.
- Ability to operate independently in a growing environment where processes and infrastructure may still be developing.
- Familiarity with AI-enabled research or compliance tools and data-flow or data-mapping analysis.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience with a federal banking regulator or federally regulated banking institution.
- Exposure to cross-border financial services, foreign banking or payments requirements, or sanctions-related risk.
- Familiarity with compliance management systems, third-party risk management platforms, business intelligence tools, SQL, or Python.
- CRCM, CAMS, CPA, CFA, or another relevant professional certification.
