Job summary

You will apply the New York State Arts Learning Standards to create engaging and award-winning experiences that promote participation in New York Edge programs. The role requires guiding theater and arts activities, directing rehearsal, and coordinating with school staff.

Qualifications

• Must be knowledgeable in theater and have experience teaching youth.
• Must be able to follow a curriculum.
• Must be responsible, reliable, and punctual.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required.

Responsibilities

• Establish and enforce behavior rules for students.
• Organize, lead, and promote interest in arts activities.
• Organize performance groups and direct rehearsals.
• Set clear objectives for lessons and communicate them.
• Assess group interests and adapt activities to needs.
• Prepare materials and classrooms for activities.
• Explain techniques and safety to participants and demonstrate.
• Evaluate activities to ensure results.
• Progress student skills toward a final project.
