Job summary

Kenosha YMCA is seeking a part-time sports instructor to teach fundamentals, rules, and teamwork in a fun, safe environment in Kenosha, WI. You will guide youth aged 2-18, set up equipment, prepare lesson plans, and communicate progress with parents across 8-week sessions.

Responsibilities include attendance, curriculum delivery, incident reporting, and supporting the Sports Director. Must be 16+ with work permit and CPR/First Aid certification. Background check required.

Qualifications

• 16 yrs (or older) with valid Work Permit.
• 1-3 years experience with sport assigned.
• Ability to control up to 10 youths aged 2-18yrs in a sports program.
• First Aid and CPR/AED Certification.
• Ability to resolve issues in professional manner.
• Experience working with children preferred.
• Background check cannot contain offenses restricted by state law for individuals over 18 years old

Responsibilities

• Set up necessary equipment for a sports program or game.
• Teach with enthusiasm and encourage kids to learn and celebrate their accomplishments.
• Contact parents about progress at least 4 times during an 8-week session.
• Prepare class curriculum for each class.
• Include a "mission moment" for each class.
• Take attendance at the beginning of each class and notify supervisors of discrepancies.
• Help with other duties assigned by the Sports Director.
• Arrange substitutes when ill or on vacation.
• Fill out accident/incident reports as needed.
• Sign in/out on time sheet and meet payroll deadlines.
• Able to work with children of all abilities.
