Job summary

Play Lawton is seeking an Academy Soccer Coach to provide development-focused training for youth players in Lawton, OK. You will lead age-appropriate sessions and support players' progression within the academy.

You will collaborate with fellow coaches and the Soccer Program Coordinator, maintain safe training environments, and communicate with families about schedules and progress. USSF D License required, and a plan to obtain it within 18 months.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years or older and able to pass background checks.
• USSF D Coaching License required; license must be pursued within 18 months of hire.
• Experience coaching soccer or teaching youth sports is required.
• Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and time-management skills.
• Willingness to travel; reliable transportation and scheduling flexibility.
• Ability to communicate in English with players, families, and staff.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, and conduct 2-3 age-appropriate training sessions per week.
• Coach and supervise academy teams during matches, festivals, and tournaments.
• Teach fundamental soccer skills: dribbling, passing, finishing, defending, and technique.
• Introduce basic tactical concepts while maintaining individual development.
• Create an environment for exploration, decision-making, and confidence with the ball.
• Provide constructive feedback and monitor player progress.
• Prepare players for progression into competitive soccer or other opportunities.
• Maintain sportsmanship, safety, and professional behavior; communicate with parents.
• Collaborate with other coaches and the Soccer Program Coordinator for consistency.
• Attend required meetings, evaluations, and program activities.
• Work evenings, weekends, and some holidays as needed.
