Job summary

Blue Ridge Community College is seeking a part-time Writing Tutor to provide high-quality tutoring in both virtual and in-person formats. The role supports students in the Shenandoah Valley and requires flexible scheduling, including 1:00–6:00 Monday–Thursday shifts.

The position is limited to 1500 hours per year and offers no benefits. Responsibilities include one-to-one or small group tutoring, record keeping, and assisting with library coverage.

Qualifications

• Final grade of B or higher from an accredited college or university in the class to be tutored.
• Ability to conduct tutoring sessions both virtually and in person.
• Dependability and responsiveness; desire to help students maximize progress.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-to-one, small group, and/or classroom tutoring services with quality on a walk-in or scheduled basis.
• Integrate effective study strategies with subject-area instruction and provide feedback.
• Maintain accurate tutoring records and protect student confidentiality; cover library desk as needed.
