Job summary

Meridian Health Services is seeking a part-time WIC Nutritionist for our Wells and Adams County offices in Indiana. The position totals 21 hours per week, with specific Monday–Tuesday and Wednesday shifts. Will support and promote breastfeeding, perform nutrition assessments, and coordinate care within INWIC MIS.

You must hold RD or be eligible for the RD exam or possess a degree in Dietetics/Nutrition. A valid driver's license and reliable transportation are required.

Qualifications

• Must be one of the following: Registered Dietician; or Registration eligible to take the exam for the Commission on Dietetic Registration; or Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Dietetics, Nutrition, or Nutrition Sciences.

Responsibilities

• Display a positive reflection of the Indiana WIC Program in the clinic and at community outreach events.
• Develop working relationships with staff and partnering community agencies.
• Maintain a compassionate clinic environment that supports community needs.
• Support and promote breastfeeding as the normative infant feeding method.
• Provide pregnant, postpartum, and breastfeeding clients with evidence-based breastfeeding support and education.
• Follow all policies and procedures of the Indiana WIC program.
• Provide information to clients regarding Medicaid and social services.
• Document required information in INWIC MIS to complete certification and education procedures.
• Complete nutrition assessments and provide education and referrals tailored to client needs.
• Provide individual nutrition counseling for high-risk clients with a client-centered approach.
• Lead group education classes and maintain related files and records.
• Document assessments and counseling in the INWIC MIS.
• Create and tailor a food prescription in INWIC MIS.
• Schedule appointments using INWIC MIS.
• Ensure confidentiality of client information per WIC regulations.
• Attend in-service education and staff meetings.
• Attend off-site conferences as needed.
