Job summary

Johnson College in Scranton is seeking a part-time Welding instructor to organize and deliver class syllabi and objectives, maintain a safe and well-equipped lab, and provide timely feedback to students.

The ideal candidate has 4–5 years of welding experience or an Associate's degree, with a strong Shield Metal Arc Welding background and the ability to weld in all positions, including non-ferrous metals; evening classes may be required.

Qualifications

• The candidate must have 4–5 years of technical welding experience or an Associate's degree.
• Strong background in Shield Metal Arc Welding and practical welding across positions.
• Ability to set up machines and configure gas for welding; capable of welding in all positions.
• Experience welding non-ferrous metals (stainless steel and aluminum) and open root techniques.
• Proficiency with cutting using oxy-acetylene and handheld plasma cutters.
• Punctuality and ability to stand for extended periods; prepare to work with Program Director guidance.

Responsibilities

• Organize and deliver class syllabi and objectives clearly.
• Maintain an organized and safe welding lab and prepare equipment.
• Keep accurate records of student performance and submit academic records timely.
• Provide students with timely feedback on progress.
• Arrive 15 minutes before class and stay 15 minutes after; stand for extended periods.
• Possess basic computer skills and follow directions from the Program Director.
