Job summary

Savannah Technical College seeks a part-time Welding Instructor to teach welding courses at multiple campuses in Savannah and surrounding counties. Responsibilities include classroom instruction, lesson planning, and student evaluations, with emphasis on safety and documentation.

Minimum qualifications include a Welding Diploma and at least three years of welding experience in the past seven years. Strong communication skills and AWS certification are preferred; teaching experience is desired.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Welding from a recognized program preferred.
• Three years welding experience within the past seven years.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills; computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Daily teaching duties include class lecture, lesson planning, and classroom management.
• Evaluating students’ progress in attaining goals and objectives.
• Maintaining program certification requirements, as appropriate.
• Preparing and maintaining required documentation and administrative reports.
• Ensuring safety and security requirements are met in the classroom and laboratory areas.
• Assisting with student recruitment and retention efforts.
• Working diligently to maximize student placements in Welding or related field.
• Other duties as assigned by Department Head or Program Dean.
• Flexible work schedule hours to include day/evening classes.
• Must be able to work evening hours.
• Must be able to work at multiple Savannah Technical College campus locations.
