Job summary

WMAR, The E.W. Scripps Company, seeks a part-time, temporary meteorologist in Baltimore to analyze data and prepare forecasts for TV, radio and online platforms. You will deliver daily weathercasts, break into coverage as needed, and report live from events while supporting multiple media formats.

The role requires a meteorology degree, relevant on-air experience, and proficiency with newsroom systems. This is a Baltimore-based position with a focus on accuracy and clear communication.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Meteorology.
• Generally 3+ years experience in related field.
• Valid driver's license with proof of insurance.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and deliver daily weathercasts utilizing all available weather data and graphics computers.
• Prepare and deliver urgent weather updates interrupting regular programming as necessary.
• Prepare and deliver weather content across TV, radio, and Internet.
• Assist management in evaluating new weather data gathering and presentation tools.
• Receive assignments or news tips to develop story ideas.
• Report live from event sites or mobile broadcast unit.
• May write and produce weather stories for multiple platforms on deadline.
