Job summary

YMCA of the Jersey Shore’s Old Bridge branch is seeking a Volleyball Program Instructor. This part-time role focuses on delivering the sport curriculum, fostering skill development, and promoting good sportsmanship and healthy living.

You will coach youth and adults, set up equipment, track attendance, and ensure safety while upholding YMCA values. Required are volleyball background and First Aid/CPR within 90 days; flexible day shifts with a family-friendly environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum 18 years of age or older preferred.
• High school education/GED equivalent.
• Previous experience playing or coaching Volleyball.
• Ability to communicate to youth and adults.
• First Aid, CPR/AED certification within 90 days of hire date.

Responsibilities

• Teach fundamental skills including serving, passing/bumping, setting, hitting, court positioning, and basic rules.
• Set up and break down nets, volleyballs, cones, and other equipment before and after each session. Inspect gym/program area and equipment for potential safety concerns.
• Must always be on time and ready for your scheduled shift, including dress code adherence.
• Demonstrate YMCA core values of honesty, respect, responsibility and caring; pursue ongoing professional development.
• Lead participants through the intended group program curriculum; maintain roster and attendance tracking.
• Monitor participants to ensure participation, fairness, and equal opportunities.
• Interact with participants and parents in a positive, family‑friendly manner.
• Exercise sound judgment regarding member safety and injuries; follow emergency procedures.
• Represent the YMCA professionally; promote a positive and cheerful environment.
• Attend required staff meetings and training; participate in ongoing education.
• Perform other duties assigned by Regional Youth & Sports Director or Branch Executive Director.
• If absent, arrange a substitute and notify the Membership Director promptly.
