Job summary

Hurstbourne Animal Hospital in Louisville, KY is seeking an experienced Veterinary Assistant to join our caring team. You will support the veterinary team with hands-on patient care and help ensure compassionate treatment for every animal.

Responsibilities include assisting clinicians, coordinating client scheduling and communications, and maintaining a clean, safe hospital environment. This role offers a stable schedule with 2–3 days per week and competitive compensation based on experience.

We are seeking an experienced Veterinary Assistant to support our veterinary team and provide compassionate care to pets in Louisville, KY.

Your Impact as a Veterinary Assistant
  • Provide Essential Patient Care: Assist the medical team with hands‑on care, ensuring every animal is treated with compassion and respect.
  • Be the Go‑To Support for the Medical Team: Anticipate the needs of veterinarians and technicians to ensure a smooth, efficient, and collaborative workflow.
  • Create a Positive Client Experience: Help create a seamless visit for our clients by assisting with scheduling, payments, and communications.
  • Ensure a Safe and Clean Environment: Maintain the hospital, perform clinic upkeep and equipment maintenance to uphold high standards of care.
What You'll Bring to the Team
  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
  • A calm and efficient approach, with the ability to handle a fast‑paced and sometimes stressful environment with composure.
  • Confidence and skill in handling pets of all sizes and temperaments.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in fundamental veterinary skills (laboratory, pharmacy, nursing, radiology) is a strong asset.
Schedule & Availability – Hurstbourne Animal Hospital

Hours of operation: 2‑3 days per week, with Saturday rotation.
