Job summary

The Pet Hospital of La Mesa in La Mesa, CA is seeking a veterinary assistant for a part-time, weekend-focused role. This fast-paced hospital values compassionate care, teamwork, and strong client service in a community-centered setting.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years of veterinary experience, can handle cats and dogs safely, and is comfortable assisting with exams, vaccines, anesthesia, and radiology under doctor orders. Saturday availability is required.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of veterinary clinical experience as a veterinary technician or assistant.
• Knowledge of industry tools and equipment.
• Experience with proper animal handling and restraint of cats and dogs.
• Ability to perform nursing care in a veterinary hospital setting.
• Solid understanding of animal behavior and healthcare.
• Understands the importance of excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Collect laboratory samples for urinalysis, cytology, bloodwork, fecal analysis.
• Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments per doctor orders.
• Anesthesia monitoring, pre-operative and post-operative surgical care.
• Assist veterinarians with exams, treatments, and surgical procedures.
• Diagnostic experience including digital radiology positioning.
