Job summary

Penske Truck Leasing seeks a Hiker (Vehicle Transporter/Truck Driver) in Savannah, GA to move box trucks up to 26’ and tractors/trailers with CDL Class A as applicable. This casual on-call role offers 0–25 hours weekly, based on business needs at the Garden City location.

Responsibilities include safety driving, vehicle checks, collecting payments when required, and reporting incidents. DOT-regulated with background checks and drug screening; strong customer service and reliability are essential.

Qualifications

• 2 years of driving experience required.
• 2 years of a clean DMV motor vehicle record required.
• Valid Class B CDL required. Applicants must be domiciled in the U.S. and licensed in their state of residence.
• CDL Class A license preferred.
• Ability to read and follow written instructions is required.
• Ability to work independently, customer service skills, organizational skills, and a positive attitude are required.
• English language proficiency is required by federal law.
• Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of the job.
• DOT drug screening and background checks will be conducted; DOT Drug Screening within 30 days of start and FMCSA Clearinghouse review.
• Willingness to travel and comply with background checks and drug screening are required.

Responsibilities

• Follow safety procedures while driving trucks to Penske locations or customer locations.
• Check vehicles to ensure mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment are in good working order and report issues.
• Obtain receipts or signatures for delivered goods and collect payment when required.
• Report vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, or damage to vehicles.
• Other projects and tasks as assigned by supervisor.
