Job summary

The Wayne County Transportation Department in Honesdale, PA is hiring a dependable, compassionate Van Driver to provide door-to-door transportation for county residents, including seniors' access to services and appointments. You will drive county vehicles, help riders, and communicate clearly with staff and customers.

Part-time schedule: approximately 14-21+ hours/week, 4:00 AM–9:00 PM, Monday–Friday with limited Saturday hours.

Qualifications

• One year of employment requiring operation of a motor vehicle, or an equivalent combination of experience and training.
• Must possess a valid Pennsylvania driver’s license.
• No suspension of driver’s license within the last three years.
• Must meet PA residency requirements and be able to perform essential job functions.

Responsibilities

• Drive county vehicles about 150 miles per day while ensuring passenger comfort.
• Assist seniors and wheelchair users with boarding and exiting.
• Communicate clearly with riders and staff via person-to-person interaction and two-way radio.
• Adjust to daily route changes and maintain flexibility in service needs.
• Provide friendly interaction and positive social contact throughout the day.
