Job summary

Yale New Haven Health is seeking a certified Ultrasound Technologist to perform diagnostic ultrasound scans across general and specialty areas, including OB/GYN and vascular procedures. The role involves supporting radiologists, ensuring patient comfort, and coordinating department workflow.

In addition to technical proficiency, the position requires compliance with ARDMS requirements, ability to train others, and active participation in equipment safety and maintenance.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an approved ultrasound program.
• Must meet ARDMS requirements to apply for Abdomen or OB/Gyn registry.
• Working knowledge of pertinent equipment, scanning techniques, patient care, and evaluating patient status and emergencies.

Responsibilities

• Perform Diagnostic Ultrasound Scans as ordered by physicians.
• Assist radiologist/clinicians during imaging and interventional procedures.
• Competent in general ultrasound tests across multiple areas (e.g., small parts, breast, abdominal, OB/GYN, high-risk OB, pediatric).
• Willing to assist with vascular exams when needed.
• Aid in inventory, procurement, storage and maintenance of equipment.
• Ensure patient well-being and comfort in the department.
• Assist in scheduling, transportation, and workflow of patients.
• Assist in administrative duties including answering phones, coordinating with other departments, and reporting.
• Rotates weekends, on-call, and holidays with other sonographers.
• Maintain cleanliness and neatness of the department.
• Participate in routine maintenance planning and safety of equipment.
• Participate in training of coworkers and students.
• Maintain accurate records and computer entries.
• Meet performance expectations for customer service, teamwork, resource utilization, and development.

• 9. Rotates Weekend, On Call And Holidays With Fellow Sonographers.
• 10. Responsible For The Cleanliness And Neatness Of The Ultrasound Department.
• 11. Participates In The Planning Of Routine Maintenance Of All Ultrasound Equipment And Responsible For Safety Of Such Equipment.
• 12. Participates In Training Of Co-Workers And Students.
• 13. Prepares And Maintains Accurate Records As Directed Including Entering Information Into The Computer.
• 14. Meets Performance Expectations For Customer Service, Teamwork, Resource Utilization, And Staff And Self Development As Outlined In Performance Review.
• 15. Performs Other Duties As Assigned Or Directed To Ensure Smooth Operation Of The Department/Unit.

Qualifications

Education

Graduate Of An Approved Ultrasound Program. Must Meet Requirements Of Ardms To Apply For The Abdomen Or Ob/Gyn Registry Exam. Must Have A Working Knowledge Of Pertinent Equipment, Scanning Techniques, Patient Care, And Evaluating Patient Status And Emergency Situations.

Experience

Documented One Year Fulltime Ultrasound Clinical Experience; Or Completion Of A Formal Two Year Program Or Equivalent In Another Allied Health Profession; Or One Year Ultrasound Clinical Experience With Bachelor'S Degree Unrelated To Ultrasound Technology .

LICENSURE

BLS required.
