The BUILD Tutor position at the University of Indianapolis provides academic support to students with learning disabilities. This is a part-time, hourly, temporary role with no benefits, beginning on the specified date.

Tutors will conduct structured sessions, maintain session records, and report progress to the Director weekly. Strong communication, organizational skills, and computer literacy are essential for success in this role.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with college-aged students with learning disabilities is preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree is required.
  • Regular and predictable attendance is required.
  • Must have the knowledge and ability to use computers and related technology efficiently.
  • Good organizational skills are required.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are required.
  • Must be able to think outside of the box to come up with learning solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Follows the guidance and direction of supervisor(s)
  • Demonstrates respectful, ethical, responsible behavior
  • Abides by the University's policies, procedures, and rules
  • Performs employee responsibilities as detailed in employee handbooks and policies
  • Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance and punctuality
  • Provides structured, scheduled tutoring sessions to students
  • Keeps documentation on each session with students
  • Communicates weekly with Director on student progress or concerns
  • Increases knowledge and understanding of learning disabilities and academic strategies to better support students
  • Attends staff meetings and special events of BUILD
  • Monitors, reads, and scribes assigned exams
  • Completes other duties, including special projects, as required or assigned
  • Uses computers and related technology efficiently
