Job summary

Catapult Learning in New York seeks a Part-Time Tutor to advocate, mentor, and guide students in reading, mathematics, and writing at partner schools in the Bronx and Queens. You will work with school staff, communicate progress to families, and develop lesson plans to deliver structured instruction using company materials.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or at least two years of college (48 semester hours or 72 quarter hours) required.
• Licensed tutors: NY state-licensed teachers preferred/required.
• FBI/BCI background check required.
• Teaching experience preferred.
• Belief that all children can learn.
• Ability to navigate online platforms for record keeping and communication.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose skill deficits and deliver prescribed instructional methods.
• Consult with school personnel to coordinate student services.
• Communicate progress with parents and conferences as needed.
• Deliver prescribed instructional models in reading, math and/or writing.
• Attend trainings and implement company-designed lessons for students.
• Develop and maintain individualized, skill-appropriate lesson plans.
• Supervise students and escort to sessions as needed.
• Maintain student forms and files as required by agencies.
• Attend and document meetings with Supervisors, teachers, and parents.
• Maintain inventory of educational materials.

Part-Time Tutor

Tutors will provide contracted instructional services with the necessary educational expertise in reading, mathematics, and writing for students.

Responsibilities

As a tutor with Catapult Learning, you will:

• Diagnose learning skill deficits and delivers prescribed instructional delivery methods as determined by the Company
• Consult with school personnel to coordinate efforts in providing services to students
• Communicate and conference with parents providing information on student progress
• Deliver prescribed instructional delivery methods as determined by the Company
• Attend training sessions and deliver designated instructional models and strategies in readiness, reading, mathematics, and/or writing skills to students through the utilization of Company-designed materials and educational strategies.
• Develop and maintain individualized skill-appropriate lesson plans.
• Ensure supervision of students, including escorting students safely to and from sessions.
• Establish and maintain student forms and files as required by the Company, local, state, and/or federal agencies
• Attend and document meetings/training with Company Supervisors, classroom teachers, principals, and parents as required by the Company, local, state, and/or federal agencies
• Maintain inventory of educational materials and supplies
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

What we’ll need from you:

The positive, enthusiastic tutor we seek has these qualifications.

• Non-licensed tutors: individuals with an associate degree (or higher) from an accredited institution of higher education; or at least two years of study at an accredited institution of higher education (defined as 48 semester hours or 72 quarter hours).
• Licensed tutors: teachers with proper credentials recognized by the State of NY as Properly Licensed Teacher.
• Tutors must complete an FBI/BCI background check.
• Teaching experience preferred.
• Unwavering belief that all children can learn.
• Ability to navigate online platforms for record keeping and communication.

Light lifting, walking, climbing stairs. Most programs are in school settings.
