Job summary

Southcentral Kentucky Community and Technical College is seeking a Part-Time TRiO Math & Science Tutor to support student learning in math and science. Tutors help students strengthen understanding, build confidence, and develop study skills in a welcoming environment.

Sessions are one-on-one, 30–60 minutes or longer, in Building J Resource Room or online via Microsoft Teams. Responsibilities include data recording, training, and assisting with SSS team tasks.

Qualifications

• Grade of an A or B in College Algebra & Trigonometry.
• Successful completion of 12+ college credits at an accredited college.
• Minimum 3.0 GPA (if currently enrolled in college).
• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree (or currently pursuing one).

Responsibilities

• Tutor one-on-one sessions 30–60 minutes, in person or online.
• Record tutoring data and complete required training.
• Assist SSS team with assigned duties.

Part-Time TRiO Math & Science Tutor

Job Summary

Math & Science tutors will support student learning and success by helping students strengthen their understanding of course content, build academic confidence, and develop effective study skills. By encouraging collaborative learning, tutors foster independent thinking and skill development while creating a welcoming, encouraging environment that motivates students and builds confidence in their math and science abilities.

Job Duties

The position reports to the Program Coordinator and provides tutoring support through TRiO’s SSS Program. Tutoring sessions are conducted one‑on‑one, lasting between 30 – 60 minutes or more, either in person at the Building J Resource Room or online via Microsoft Teams. Additional responsibilities include recording tutoring data, completing required training, and assisting with any duties the SSS team requests.

Minimum Qualifications

• Grade of an A or B in College Algebra & Trigonometry
• Successful completion of 12 + college credits at an accredited college
• Minimum 3.0 GPA (if currently enrolled in college)

Preferred Qualifications

• Grade of A or B in additional math courses (e.g., Calculus I or Statistics)
• Successful completion of 12 + credits of SKYCTC college courses
• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree (or currently pursuing one)
• One professional recommendation (one from a Math or Science faculty member preferred)
