Job summary

The Town of Avon is hiring a Transit Operator for part-time/seasonal shifts to operate various Avon Transit vehicles, ensuring safe, timely, and friendly service for residents and visitors. You will document ridership, assist passengers, and uphold high customer-service standards.

Responsibilities include vehicle inspections, reporting, and adherence to safety practices, with opportunities for training and advancement within a supportive municipal environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with 3 years of CDL driving experience.
• Must possess a CDL permit or CDL license or obtain within 3 weeks of hire date.

Responsibilities

• Operate routes within the Town of Avon limits and assist medically qualifying passengers.
• Operate 36 ft. and 25 ft. buses and other vehicles per licensing requirements.
• Greet passengers and provide arrivals/departures info and visitor guidance.
• Perform pre- and post-trip inspections and ensure equipment is safe and functional.
• Restock schedules and printed information on board.
• Use defensive and winter driving techniques and attend safety meetings.
• Track scheduling data and submit daily reports and trip sheets.
• Complete incident reports accurately at end of shifts.
• Conduct yourself professionally and work well in a diverse environment.
