Job summary

Total Traffic + Weather Network in Clearwater, FL is seeking a part-time Traffic Anchor to deliver local traffic and weather updates. You will read updates on-air, gather data from multiple feeds, write and produce copy, and edit audio for broadcasts and online content.

Ideal candidates have strong on-air presence, solid writing/editing skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced newsroom. English is required with Spanish as a plus; familiarity with police scanners is a plus.

Qualifications

• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word/Excel/PowerPoint/SharePoint).
• Strong knowledge of local geography and traffic patterns.
• Clear, pleasant on-air voice with good pronunciation; English and Spanish bilingual is a plus.
• Experience in a fast-paced newsroom environment.
• Excellent writing and editing with strong grammar.
• Excellent attention to detail and follow-through.
• Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
• Familiarity with police scanners is a plus.
• Previous broadcast experience preferred.

We are seeking a Traffic Anchor to keep our listeners abreast of traffic and weather in the local area.

What You’ll Do

• Provide timely, accurate and useful information to help commuters plan their drives.
• Deliver up-to-the-minute reports on accidents, delays, and major traffic disruptions.
• Read traffic updates, commercials, and public service announcements on air.
• Gather information from multiple intake sources and monitor local, state, and national traffic feeds to determine what’s most relevant.
• Research, write, and produce traffic and weather copy for on‑air use; edit audio using digital editing software.
• Manage incoming information, verify facts, and ensure all details are accurate and current; maintain updated content on station websites.
• Create written, visual, audio, and video content for websites, blogs, and social media platforms.
• Work a flexible schedule as needed, which may include early mornings, evenings, weekends, or holidays.

What You’ll Need

• Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.
• Strong knowledge of local geography, major roadways, mass transit systems, and traffic patterns.
• Clear, pleasant, and well‑controlled on‑air voice with excellent pronunciation. English & Spanish bilingual is a plus.
• Skilled at working in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven, newsroom‑style environment.
• Excellent writing and editing abilities with strong command of grammar.
• Exceptional attention to detail with consistent follow‑through until issues are resolved.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and multitask effectively in a high‑volume setting.
• Familiarity with police scanners is a plus.
• Previous broadcast experience preferred.
