Our floaters are an important part of our team. You'll work alongside teachers and leadership to provide classroom coverage, maintain required teacher-to-child ratios, support daily routines, and help create a safe, nurturing environment for every child in our care.

If you're flexible, reliable, enjoy working with different age groups, and love being part of a team, we'd love to meet you.

What You'll Do

As our Part-Time Teacher Assistant, you will:

  • Provide classroom coverage and support throughout the center as needed.
  • Assist teachers with daily routines, activities, meals, transitions, and rest times.
  • Help maintain required teacher-to-child ratios at all times.
  • Supervise children closely and prioritize their health and safety.
  • Engage children through play, conversations, stories, songs, and age-appropriate activities.
  • Support classrooms ranging from infants through preschool based on the needs of the center.
  • Help maintain clean, organized, and welcoming classroom environments.
  • Follow classroom schedules, routines, and teacher directions.
  • Assist with diapering, toileting, feeding, and other caregiving responsibilities as appropriate for the age group.
  • Build positive relationships with children, families, teachers, and leadership.
  • Follow Bright from the Start licensing requirements and First Discovery policies and procedures.
  • Step into different classrooms with a positive attitude and willingness to help.
Required Qualifications

To be considered, applicants must have:

  • Experience working with children in a childcare, preschool, school, or similar setting.
  • All required Georgia Health & Safety training completed or the ability to complete required training before beginning work.
  • Ability to work comfortably with multiple age groups.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Reliable transportation and excellent attendance.
  • Ability to meet all Bright from the Start employment requirements, including required background checks.
  • A flexible, dependable, and professional attitude.
Preferred Qualifications
  • At least 1 year of experience in a licensed childcare center.
  • Experience in a Georgia Quality Rated early learning program.
  • Current CPR & First Aid Certification.
  • CDA, TCC, Associate's Degree, or coursework in Early Childhood Education or a related field.
  • Familiarity with Bright from the Start licensing regulations.
Why Join First Discovery?
  • Competitive pay based on experience and qualifications.
  • Supportive leadership team.
  • Curriculum and classroom materials provided.
  • Opportunities for advancement and professional growth.
  • Positive team culture where your contributions matter.
  • Beautiful learning environment designed for children to thrive.
We Think You’ll Thrive Here If You...
  • Believe every child deserves to feel loved, safe, and celebrated.
  • Are comfortable jumping into different classrooms and helping wherever you're needed.
  • Love singing songs, reading stories, playing, and engaging with children.
  • Can quickly adapt to different classroom routines and age groups.
  • Notice what needs to be done and are willing to lend a hand.
  • Take reliability and punctuality seriously.
  • Enjoy being part of a team and supporting other educators.
  • Want to grow your experience in early childhood education.
This Position Isn’t the Best Fit If...
  • Reliability and punctuality are a challenge.
  • You prefer working in only one classroom or with one age group.
  • Frequent changes in your daily classroom assignment would be frustrating.
  • Teamwork isn't your style.
  • You're uncomfortable with diapering, toileting, feeding, cleaning, or other hands-on childcare responsibilities.
