Sylvan Learning of Fairlawn is looking for passionate teachers to join their team. In this role, you will create positive learning experiences and evaluate student progress. With flexible hours and no lesson planning, your focus will be purely on teaching.
The ideal candidate has a Bachelor's in Education and at least one year of teaching experience. Enjoy the reward of seeing students thrive while being part of a supportive community.
Are you passionate about teaching, but are tired of what makes it hard? We are Sylvan Learning of Fairlawn, a high-volume tutoring center on Smith Road across from Summit Mall. We’re looking for dynamic teachers to join our team long‑term and help with the increasing number of students needing to catch up, keep up or get ahead. The Sylvan Teacher is responsible for creating a positive, personal learning experience for students by creating balanced and robust educational moments. The Sylvan Teacher evaluates student progress on each assignment, communicates this progress, and works with Center staff to ensure learning is personal for each student. We serve students PK‑12 who learn differently, who have yet to master key academic skills, whose personal circumstances have prevented them from keeping up with their grade, who are “bored” because they are not being challenged or who’d like a personal plan and guide to achieve their long‑term academic goals. Sylvan’s time‑tested curriculum and technology is designed to enhance rather than replace the teacher‑student relationship. At Sylvan Learning of Fairlawn, we are a community of teachers, students and their families.
Math whizzes who can teach upper Math (Trig, Calculus, etc.), Montessori‑trained teachers and intervention specialists with current license strongly encouraged to apply.
Expected hours: 6 – 12 per week. You may work 2–4 hours during morning and/or evening instruction hours and 2–4 hours on Saturdays.
Monday to Thursday: instructional hours 9:30 am–1:30 pm and 3:30 pm–6:30 pm. Minimum commitment: 2 hours (morning or evening) per week. Saturdays: instructional hours 9:30 am–1:30 pm, preferred at least twice a month.
Education: Bachelor’s in Education required (except for Upper Math, a college degree must be math‑related). Experience: Teacher, 1 year preferred.
In person at Sylvan Learning of Fairlawn.
Sylvan lets you focus on what you love most: Teaching. You bring the passion and expertise; we take care of everything else. Join us!
