Job summary

LeafSpring School at Matthews is seeking dependable, flexible Substitute Teachers to support our South Charlotte schools. This part-time, as-needed role covers infants through school-age children and may move between LeafSpring locations based on staffing needs.

Candidates should be 18+, with a high school diploma or GED, and a passion for working with children. Availability during operating hours 7:00 AM–6:00 PM, Monday–Friday; no evenings or weekends.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Genuine love for working with children.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to adapt to different classrooms and age groups.
• Reliable transportation between South Charlotte locations.
• CPR/First Aid preferred or willingness to obtain.
• Early Childhood Education coursework or CDA a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provide classroom coverage and support as assigned.
• Maintain active supervision and ensure children's safety.
• Follow classroom schedules, routines, and lesson plans.
• Engage children in age-appropriate learning and play.
• Assist with meals, diapering, toileting, rest periods, and transitions as appropriate.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming classroom.
• Follow health, sanitation, safety, licensing, and school requirements.
• Communicate professionally with families, coworkers, and leadership.
• Complete required classroom documentation.
• Maintain confidentiality.
• Flex between classrooms, age groups, and school locations as needed.

This is a part-time, as-needed position. Substitute Teachers may be assigned to different LeafSpring locations based on staffing needs and will work with children ranging from infancy through school age.

• Previous childcare, preschool, babysitting, camp, or youth experience preferredCPR/First Aid preferred or willingness to obtain
• Early Childhood Education coursework, CDA, or credentials are a plus

Schedule

This is a part-time substitute position with hours based on school staffing needs and employee availability.

Candidates should have availability during our operating hours of 7:00 AM–6:00 PM, Monday through Friday.

No evenings or weekends.
