Job summary

Dickinson Independent School District is seeking a Substitute Custodian to help maintain clean, safe facilities across district campuses. This nonexempt, as-needed position supports daily custodial tasks and may respond to after-hours calls as needed.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma or GED preferred, basic mechanical skills, and the ability to follow directions and work as part of a team. The role involves standing for long periods and lifting up to 50 pounds as necessary.

Qualifications

• Education/Certification: High School diploma or GED preferred.
• Valid Texas Driver’s License or Texas ID required.
• Able to read, write, and speak English.
• Be in good physical condition and able to perform manual tasks.
• Must follow instructions and work with little supervision.
• Able to work irregular hours and respond to after-hours calls.

Responsibilities

• Maintain school buildings and surroundings in a clean, safe condition.
• Operate and maintain custodial equipment.
• Collaborate with site staff and respond to maintenance requests.
• Follow district policies and procedures and maintain good attendance and safety.
• Adapt to flexible schedules and work at any site as needed.
