Job summary

Hiawatha Valley Education Dist in Winona, MN is seeking a part-time Food Service worker to assist in preparing and serving nutritious meals for students. The role works up to 10 hours weekly, with a 11:00 am–1:00 pm shift, fostering a positive team environment and reliable cafeteria operations.

Responsibilities include customer service, proper food handling, sanitation, inventory checks, and reporting issues to the Food Service Manager.

Qualifications

• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
• Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Prior food service experience preferred but not required.
• Must pass a background check.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.

Responsibilities

• Provides excellent customer service to all students and staff.
• Completes regulatory documentation as required.
• Stores food items at the proper temperature with proper labeling and dating information, and discards food when applicable.
• Sanitizes work area before and at the end of the scheduled workday by completing the sanitation checklist.
• Follows and performs lunch procedure according to allergies and daily menus.
• Assists in the cleaning of the café, lunchrooms, and meal carts.
• Collects dirty dishes for daily sanitation and pick up.
• Operates equipment in a safe, proper, and efficient manner.
• Reports any problem/food issue or accident occurring in the Café premises immediately to the Food Service Manager.
• Prior to the start of each school year, attends and participates in annual training provided by the Food Service Director and Manager, and attends and participates in All Staff Meetings and assigned trainings.
• Checks and reports inventory to Food Service Manager.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
