Job summary

Family Dollar in Baldwin Township, MI seeks an Assistant Store Manager to support daily store operations, customer service, and team development. You will help manage merchandise flow, payroll, scheduling, and cash handling while promoting a safe, friendly shopping environment.

The role requires strong communication, organizational skills, and the ability to lead a team in a fast-paced retail setting. This is a part-time position with opportunities for growth within the store.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred and ability to read, interpret, and explain operational directives.
• Store management experience in retail, grocery, or drug store environment preferred.
• Must be able to lift up to 55 lbs. and handle frequent walking, standing, kneeling, bending.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and written skills required.
• Ability to work in a high-energy, team environment.
• Exceptional customer service, organizational and communication skills required.
• Strong problem solving and decision-making skills required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with store functions and day-to-day store activities.
• Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address questions or concerns.
• Organize and transfer merchandise from delivery truck to stockroom to sales floor and maintain seasonal areas.
• Perform opening and closing procedures as needed.
• Process corporate directives and communications related to store activities.
• Maintain promotional fixtures and displays for effectiveness.
• Assist in ordering merchandise, processing damaged goods, payroll, scheduling, and cash handling.
• Maintain a well‑stocked sales floor and organized stockroom to company standards.
• Protect and secure store assets including cash.
• Adhere to safety and company policies; ensure associates follow procedures.
• Help Store Manager supervise, train, and develop Store Associates.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and respectful store environment.
• Other duties as assigned.
