  • Ability to make sound inventory recommendations using imperfect or incomplete data.
  • Understanding of seasonality, reorder planning, buffer stock, production lead times, and retail replenishment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Highly independent, proactive, and comfortable taking ownership with minimal supervision.
  • Clear and professional written English communication, particularly through Slack.

Responsibilities

Role Summary

We are seeking an experienced Part-time Stock Controller/Merchandiser to support inventory decisions for a fast-growing collegiate e-commerce brand. This role will analyze inventory and demand across both DTC and wholesale channels, recommend reorder quantities, and help improve the company’s inventory planning process. The ideal candidate can work independently with complex or incomplete data, account for seasonality and wholesale demand fluctuations, and build practical inventory recommendations that reduce stockouts and excess inventory.

Key Responsibilities
Inventory Planning & Analysis
  • Analyze inventory, sales, and SKU-level performance across DTC and wholesale channels.
  • Determine which products should be reordered, increased, reduced, or monitored.
  • Account for seasonality, historical sell-through, stockouts, wholesale demand, and production lead times.
  • Support inventory planning across approximately 3,000 SKUs and multiple product collections.
Merchandising & Buying Support
  • Support buying cadence and reorder planning.
  • Determine appropriate inventory levels and buffer stock requirements.
  • Incorporate retail pre-book orders and unexpected chase orders into inventory decisions.
  • Balance DTC demand with wholesale and retail partner requirements.
Inventory Process Improvement
  • Help maintain and improve a reliable, continuously updated inventory planning tool.
  • Identify limitations in existing inventory systems and develop better approaches to demand and replenishment planning.
  • Explore practical uses of AI to improve inventory analysis and reduce manual workload.
  • Use judgment when working with incomplete, inconsistent, or imperfect inventory data.
Systems & Communication
  • Work with inventory and sales data from Shopify and ShipHero.
  • Maintain organized inventory analysis and recommendations.
  • Communicate findings, recommendations, and priorities clearly through Slack.
  • Work independently with minimal handholding and proactively flag inventory risks or opportunities.
