Job summary

Boys & Girls Clubs of Santa Cruz County in Santa Cruz, CA is seeking a part-time STEAM Coordinator to develop and lead hands-on STEAM programs for youth ages 5–18, fostering curiosity, creativity, and safe, inclusive learning after school and in the evenings.

Responsibilities include planning and facilitating activities across science, technology, engineering, art and math, maintaining supplies, coordinating with staff, tracking participation, and helping evaluate outcomes.

Qualifications

• Required: experience with children/youth in educational, recreational, or community settings.
• Demonstrated interest or experience in STEAM education or programming.
• Ability to communicate effectively with youth.
• Ability to plan and lead activities independently within a team.
• Commitment to a safe, inclusive environment for all youth.
• Preferred: degree in education, STEAM, CS, engineering, science, math, or related field.

Responsibilities

• Plan, prepare, and facilitate engaging STEAM activities for Club members (science, technology, engineering, mathematics, robotics, coding, LEGO engineering, environmental science).
• Adapt activities to fit ages 5-18 and maintain a positive, inclusive learning environment.
• Introduce STEAM careers and real-world applications to youth.
• Ensure safety and inventory management of supplies and materials.
• Collaborate with club staff to integrate STEAM into broader programs.
• Track participation and assist with evaluation/outcomes reporting.
• Communicate with leadership, staff, volunteers, parents/guardians, and community partners.
• Support special STEAM events, field trips, and family engagement activities.
