Job summary

Sun Valley Academy in Glendale, AZ is seeking a Part-Time Special Education Teacher to support students with diverse needs. The role requires delivering individualized instruction, managing classroom activities, and collaborating with families and staff.

The ideal candidate holds a SPED certification and a Bachelor's degree, demonstrates strong communication, adaptability, and commitment to student success, and can work the specified schedule: Mon & Fri, Wed mornings.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher; advanced degree preferred.
• Special Education state certification.
• Experience teaching Special Education in grades K-8.
• Confidence and enthusiasm to quickly learn and utilize technology.
• Knowledge and understanding of state and/or national content standards.
• Strong skills in working with students with diverse needs and skill levels.
• Strong oral and written communication, instruction, curriculum, conflict resolution, multitasking, problem solving, decision making and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide instruction and classroom management for students with special needs.
• Develop instructional materials and training modules.
• Establish and reinforce acceptable student behaviors, attitudes, and social skills.
• Collaborate with teachers, parents, administrators and community partners.
• Support individual students inside and outside the classroom.
• Implementation of IEPs and progress monitoring.
• Recordkeeping for the instructional program and student records.
• Provide transportation and supervision support as needed.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
