Job summary

Sul Ross State University is seeking an Adjunct Instructor of Spanish to join the Languages & Literature department on an as-needed basis for the Alpine campus. This part-time role supports undergraduate and potentially graduate Spanish courses, with instruction possibly delivered in person or online as needed by the department.

The position requires a Master’s degree or Ph.D. in Spanish language and/or literature and classroom teaching experience; familiarity with Blackboard is preferred.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree or Ph.D. in Spanish language and/or literature.
• Classroom teaching experience.
• Experience with online teaching or hybrid formats is preferred.
• Familiarity with Blackboard or similar learning platforms is a plus.

Responsibilities

• The Languages & Literature Department periodically seeks a qualified, part-time instructor to teach Spanish courses.
• Teach Spanish courses at a variety of times and locations.
• Create engaging lessons that promote student involvement and application of the material.
• Use a course syllabus for each course, following established institutional guidelines.
• Evaluate students to measure progress and inform them of outcomes in a timely manner.
• Maintain professional relationships with students, colleagues, and the community.
• Teach undergraduate- and potentially graduate-level Spanish courses depending on qualifications and needs of department, on the Alpine campus or other locations.
