About PowerPlay

PowerPlay is a nonprofit organization with a mission to advance the lives of girls through sports, helping them grow physically, emotionally, and academically stronger. We serve more than 1,300 young people ages 5–18 each year, 97% of whom are youth of color—primarily Black and Latinx girls. Each year, PowerPlay partners with an average of 30 public schools and community-based organizations across all five boroughs of New York City, bringing after-school and summer programs to underserved communities with a focus on physical fitness and education. We deliver three core programs: STARS Series, which serves elementary and middle school girls across all five boroughs; STARS CGI (Citywide Girls Initiative), where PowerPlay leads a coalition of 10 nonprofits supporting the healthy development of 6,000 girls citywide; and 21C.

About 21C

21C empowers Bronx students in the underserved communities of Concourse and Morrisania with leadership, healthy living, and academic enrichment to foster resilience and college/career readiness. Serving 575 youth (in FY26) across five high-need schools, 21C offers sports, STEM, tutoring, SAT and Regents test prep, the arts, Social Emotional Learning (SEL), and entrepreneurship, in partnership with Platinum Edge Tutoring.
